Lindsay and I lost a family member and best friend today when Bootypants passed away. More posts and photographs from throughout Booty's life to come. In the meantime, if you have a memory or story about Bootypants, please comment here. If you have a photo of Booty that you would like us to add to a blog post, send it our way.
"Oh shit!" First thing I said when I saw the subject line of Bootypants & the first three words "very sad news" in the email. I really only saw BP a couple times a year, but this really was one of the family members that I looked forward to seeing every July 4th. You will be missed.
ReplyDeleteAwe man, Booty was the coolest dog of all time. I'm so sorry for your loss of a family member, Scott and Lindsay. Bootypants was the only dog I ever met that didn't hate me.
ReplyDeleteJust thinking of Bootypants this past week. A good dog and much loved. So sorry for your loss. Mary
ReplyDeleteCondolences from the Sass family who've lost three pets this year. We know what you're going through. You gave Booty a good life.
ReplyDeleteBootypants was such a sweet and gentle soul, just like you, Scott and Lindsay. And he was one of the few dogs that did not scare me! Sleep well, Booty.

Oh, so sorry to hear you have lost Bootypants, Lindsay and Scott. I hope your last days together were comfortable and comforting, but I know they were also probably difficult and sad, and there will be sadness and loss that you will feel as you miss and remember her. Hope too that she is resting after living a wonderful dog's life out and about with you in nature and at home. In sympathy and thinking of you,
ReplyDeleteStephanie
Oh, Scott, Lindsay!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry. My heart hurts for you today. She was such an essential part of your family. It's hard to imagine The Namestniks without Booty. She was such a loyal, good dog. I'm still proud of winning the "Booty call" game with a sneaky bowl of chili at her last birthday party!
so sorry to hear! We lost Cap last year and Tess in August so I know how you feel. These critters have a way of working themselves into our lives and we are never the same. Bootypants will be missed!!
ReplyDeleteVery sad. So many Booty memories... her biting my shoelaces, the Dog-loo, the party pig night, the surprise birthday party and on and on. We'll miss her.
ReplyDeleteOur hearts go out to you, Scott and Lindsay. Bootypants was the coolest! I remember well the day a lanky lass named Summer came back from a jog in the Ozark woods with a friendly puppy she called "Bootypants". We all fell in love with Booty, and when Scott, the most unlikely suspect, declared he would take Booty home with him, we were all surprised but knew it was a great idea. Contrary to rumor, it was Bootypants that stole my underwear, not Sasquatch; she also stole a shirt out of my truck and chewed a hole in it. Booty was not an average dog. She was a bit cooky in the best way possible, always gentle and easy to love. She had a great life and brought so many smiles to so many people. Sleep well, Booty.

I'm so sorry to read of this. My condolences to you both. They truly are a part of our family.
ReplyDeleteI shed a few tears this morning Scott and Lindsay. Bootypants was such a wonderful dog. So many fun memories with her...her sprinting loops in Scott's first house in La Porte, her surprise birthday party, visits to Arlington Heights, the list goes on. We will miss her so much!
ReplyDeleteScott and Lindsay I am so sorry. Booty was a very special dog, and a very lucky dog. Scott was taken with her from the day she followed those birders back to Peck Ranch. We all were. And I'm so happy that Scott decided he had to take her home.
ReplyDeleteI know I have some pics of her which I'll send when I find them.
Scott, I still have no words. But this does. We mourn with you. http://youtu.be/GQ6U_gC-eDA

Lindsay & Scott:
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about your loss. Scott and I were just discussing Bootypants and dog food last week. My first enounter with her was when Scott first got her and needed a place to keep her when she went to the vet. She spent the day in our backyard while we were at work. Dogs always touch your hearts hard and heavy. Until you meet again Bootypants will be playing in Heaven and will meet you at the Rainbow Bridge. She will be making friends with our cats that are there waiting for us. The Zehner's
Thanks to all of you for leaving comments here. As many of you pointed out, Booty was a good, sweet, gentle-souled dog and was very much loved and spoiled, and she lived a good life. We miss Booty very much, but seeing some of the memories puts us more at ease. Todd, Booty loved your annual visits. Amazing how she remembered someone she would only see once a year. Yes, Keith... coolest dog of all time sums it up pretty well. Everyone says that about their own dog, but it's good to hear it coming from someone else, too. As you mentioned, Steph, she spent a lot of time in nature. She loved her walks on our trails and at various parks, and in going through photos we realized that she camped at a lot of different places in several different states over the years. She looked very content in all of her outside photos. Abby, as you mentioned, it's hard to imagine Lindsay and me without Booty. In fact, Lindsay mentioned that she has never even known a Scott without a Booty.
ReplyDeleteSome of our favorite Bootypants stories are the same as yours. Mike you mentioned the party pig night and the surprise party, and Justin you mentioned Booty stealing your unmentionables. Another of my favorites took place in the Ozarks, when Bryn bought a bunch of toys for Booty and she took them and immediately buried them, never to be seen again. Crazy dog. And Heidi, your memory of her running laps in my house in LaPorte is also a good one. She was so hyper! She would dig holes all day long while I was at work that first six months that I lived in Indiana. Linda, she hated everything about that beer fort, but like she always did, she put up with it because her mom wanted her to.
We'll put together a couple of more posts with photos from throughout Booty's life as we have time, so be sure to check back.
The Booty I knew was a patient friendly dog who enjoyed a good life mostly thanks to fate. I was glad to have the opportunity to spend some time with her on this earth. R.I.P.
ReplyDeleteWell said, AB.
ReplyDeleteI'm honored that I was there to witness Booty's entry into your life. I'm sorry that the time came for her to leave it. Best wishes and hope you are doing well!
ReplyDeleteMelissa (Schnier) Dickard
Thanks Melissa. I knew back then that Booty was a quirky, friendly dog, but I had no idea how special she was.
ReplyDeleteNice to hear from you.
A note sent to me by my mom...
ReplyDeleteI remember a phone call from Scott when he was in Missouri informing me he was going to adopt a dog and take her with him when the Missouri job was finished. She would be going with him to his new job in Indiana. He asked me for some ideas of names. She had been called Bootypants by his coworkers and himself because of the black spot above her tail. I suggested some names and hoped the name Bootypants wouldn't stick...but it did! In spite of the name, George and I would soon begin to love our new grand dog. I remember fond memories of her visits to Ohio especially the week she stayed with us while Scott got things settled with his new job in Indiana. I remember her accompanying me on daily walks to the bus stop to pick up Scott's sister, Abbie. Christmases, Thanksgivings, or just dog sitting while Scott and Lindsay visited a friend in PA...we enjoyed having Boots come and visit. I truly believe she was sent to Scott to be his companion as he adjusted to his new life. It gave me comfort to know Scott had a friend with him. And when Lindsay came into Scott's and Booty's lives, she was welcomed and loved very much by this twosome. We will miss our grand dog. There will never be another like her. I thank the Lord for her coming into Scott's and Lindsay's lives; and if dogs go to heaven, I'm sure one day we will see Bootypants there!
A note sent to me by my former coworker Robert...
ReplyDeleteVery sorry to hear about your loss. Always difficult, even if you know it’s coming.
The only real Bootypants story that I have is that when you moved to Walkerton I invited you to our big fall party and you asked if you could bring Bootypants. I said “sure” thinking that was a strange name for your girlfriend. I was surprised and perhaps relieved to see you show up with a good looking dog.
Bootypants had a great life with a loving family. That’s the part to focus on.
